9/11 is relevant to my life because of everything it caused afterwards. While myself and almost everyone in my grade were too young enough to really understand the effect of 9/11, we grew up during the war on terrorism and the constant talk of what Al-Qaeda might do next. We also witnessed a lot of the aftermath of 9/11 and the hunt/ killing of Osama. I think that the younger grades (Freshmen) likely have a different opinion on 9/11 because they were too young to experience the tension after 9/11.
Personally, I find that 9/11 only started to affect me in 2005—when I actually moved to the US. And then it only really affected me at the airport, with the stringent airport security measures implemented after 9/11. Apart from that, I do not find that 9/11 has affected me very much at all, though that may be due to my lack of complete patriotism for this country.
ReplyDeleteThat is interesting that it affects different people differently. It has affected me for as long as I can remember. This is because my family and I have always traveled and always been very involved in the current news of the United States. So as soon and 9/11 happened, i know what you mean. The security at airports and everywhere in a sense, was heightened to the point of discomfort.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember what I thought when 9/11 happened but my mom has told me that I was sitting with her in our kitchen as we watched what had happened on the news. I think 9/11 affected my dad much more than the rest of my family because he travels every week for work and has watched the security evolve since 9/11. I think that if I had been a couple of years older when it happened, it would have affected me on a much greater scale because I might have actually understood what was happening.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember 9/11 I was so young I didn't know what was going on. So I would say its still important no matter if I remember or not, because lives were taken on that horrible day.
