I thought it was ridiculous how many warning signs were brought to the attention of security officials on 9/11 and failed to be properly dealt with. In the footage in the video of the hijackers going through security and setting off the metal detector, it shows that even though the warning light went off the hijackers were still let through security without much commotion at all. The footage was slowed down in this part of the video and I think that this may have been to show how much time security officials actually had to stop this chain of events from happening. Warning signs were blatantly ignored and if they had been taken seriously, it seems that the events of 9/11 may have been stopped or at least discovered before it was too late.

I feel the same way. I cannot believe that something you would think is so simple, just following the laws and rules, was not done by the people we rely on most to protect our country. It was as simple and realizing that if that metal detector goes off something is wrong. Also it sounded like, according to the recordings, the FAA did not realize the significance and importance of what was going on at the time. The whole mess of communication is just absurd.
ReplyDeleteI also can't believe the mess that was the FAA communications—they must have wasted hours trying to get the story straight in the most ineffective manner possible. If they'd been even a little bit faster and less concerned with asking that one hostess her seat number of all things, maybe this wouldn't have been as bad as it was. There were no successes for any agency that day, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. There were way too many errors that were made. We had so many opportunities to prevent this and we blew it. I think it is horrible that the only way for security to improve is if something like this happens. Why didn't anyone else think that people would bring dangerous things on an airplane before 9/11?
ReplyDeleteI agree also. there were so many things that showed that the USA messed up the fake visa's the people calling in and telling operators they might be hi-jacking the plane but know one listened.
