So far Cool Hand Luke is setting up to be fairly weird and more than slightly creepy. The whole thing with "Lucille" was creepy as hell, to put it succinctly. I have no idea what they were trying to prove with that whole situation, but they could have made it a whole lot less creepy. Or they could have not put it in the movie at all, there's an idea (that's one similarity with Cuckoo's Nest--women are only described as viewed from the male gaze, and never developed as characters). The rest of the movie is just kind of odd and slightly off-putting...I don't know, it's just really not my kind of movie.

  1. hahaha I think you are right that that whole thing was very weird and I think everyone thought so. And then also when they were laying in their bunks and the big dude was just talking about her and her dress it was all very creepy and weird. But to be honest i think that the movie will get better, because it is a classic and so many people love it. Also i do think that this movie is very similar to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, just the characters and the setting of the jail all come together to almost be a movie based on the book precisely. I was not a fan of the book at all really, so that might explain why so far the movie is not so appealing.

  2. I completely agree with you that it was creepy, but I think I understand why they put it in the movie. I believe that this shows that the characters were brought to life with Luke around them. I don't think they would've done something like that if Luke wasn't there. Luke brings all of the characters out of their shells, and show their true personality. I may not be right about that, but that's just what I think.

  3. I agree it was kind of weird how they were getting all hot for the lady washing her car. I have to admit the it looked like she was doing it on purpose. They had to take there glasses off to get i better look and everything it was weird.
